Social media tips and more

Stephanie is getting her learn on and sharing the knowledge with you!

Social media is such a huge part of our lifestyles today. I am so grateful to my Facebook mamas and tribes I have found online. I am pretty sure they got me through pregnancy insomnia! Social media can be very fun and valuable but can also be dangerous and damaging. Here are some friendly reminders to consider before posting anything for the digital world to see.

1. Think before you post

Why are you posting this? When something big happens, often your first instinct can be to tell the social media world, immediately. What responses are you expecting? Are you raising awareness? Seeking feedback? Venting? Sharing a laugh? No matter the reason, make sure you have thought about it before posting. At least then you may have a better idea of what to expect and not be taken off guard with undesirable comments or responses. .

2. Would you say this to your ___________?

Insert name here. Mother, grandmother, boss, CHILD. We often forget who can see our social media content. If you wouldn't say it to or in front of your husband, child, etc. then maybe it shouldn't make the cut for your social media page. Chances are, they are going to see it.

3. Know your settings

This is for every social media platform out there. Get to know your social media privacy and posting settings. Understand who can see what you post, where you post it from and who you are with when you post it. Stay relevant on the security settings of your accounts and update your passwords regularly.

Stephanie is going to bring back a load of knowledge to take our online #MacKdMB nation to the next level and we are so excited! She is all the way across the country in sunny California at the Social Media Marketing World Conference. She and I both work full-time so we find our rhythm of publishing, selling, beautifying, styling and moming! Work and travel can be bittersweet when you are pulled away from your munchkins for too long. Thanks for allowing us to share with you and get the satisfaction of knowing we are a part of this online community of amazing families. We love you!
