EdVenture Myrtle Beach is out of this world!

Our take on the "new" children's museum

By Bobbei Ruswinckel - Myrtle Beach Macaroni Kid Mom Publisher February 21, 2019

EdVenture Myrtle Beach has opened the doors to their new location! For those that may not realize, EdVenture Myrtle Beach is the new name and face of our beloved Children's Musuem of South Carolina.

The Children's Museum of South Carolina will always hold a special place in my heart! We have spent hours upon hours playing, creating and exploring as a family in that place. I loved to watch my child's imagination flourish with ideas as we bounced from exhibit to exhibit. When Ben was two, we celebrated his birthday there with so many friends and family. A memory we will never forget! So when I found out that the incredible EdVenture Children's Museum of Columbia was taking our local museum as a part of their "family", I was ecstatic! As much as I loved CMSC and even dedicated my time to serving on the board, I knew this was going to lead to a new adventure of excitement and growth for the local non-profit organization.

You may have noticed that the previous location is no longer open. Every closed door is a new opportunity and this particular instance leads us to a galaxy of fun and exploration!

We had the pleasure to take a behind the scenes tour of the new location in The Market Common. Although smaller in size than what you may remember, it is definitely big on fun! The new facility is immaculate offering new exhibits focusing on aviation and astronomy. See this excerpt from their site:

"EdVenture Myrtle Beach is excited to bring a one-of-a-kind educational experience to the historic former Air Force grounds of Myrtle Beach’s Market Common district. The museum facility will be specifically tailored towards introducing children to the thrilling fields of aviation and astronomy through hands-on exhibits incorporating science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts, as well as aviation history and childhood skills development to nurture curiosity and spur interest in the aerospace careers that compose a significant percentage of the South Carolina workforce."

The new facility offers exhibits that are suitable for all ages, including a designated area for ages three years and under. Older children that may have thought they had "outgrown" the previous experience would probably be very surprised and entertained with this new mission of fun!

EdVenture Myrtle Beach is still providing a word resources to our local schools and educators as well as participating in many local events. You can also check out membership information and birthday party packages at the museum or on their website.

We hope that you will give EdVenture Myrtle Beach a visit and see where your imagination will take you! With so many great things that come from this family of museums, we can't wait to see what is next for us!
